I've been doing this for 25 years. I know how hard it is to learn this stuff on your own without feedback. I have been an engineer, lead engineer, director and director of engineering for companies who have gone public. You've got questions about coding? I know the answer because I am a professional developer who has learned all the tricks of the trade from my career successes and failures.

At first the system was not well received by our engineers because they questioned the independence of their decisions and were not pleased with the graphically designed webpage. As the company continued to host trainings and webinars on this software tool, a management team was also created to further support our engineers in their career paths. Referring back to my own experience as a software engineer, I would have preferred to have an HR individual provide me with a career pathing system that would allow me to explore opportunities in other engineering roles. However this is simply not possible, since different engineering teams have different skill sets and requirements for their positions. If I am given the opportunity to work on this project, I will work closely with the individual engineers on better understanding their needs and then update the design of the software tool based on these needs. The goal is for everyone at the company to feel more connected to one another and be able to take part in discussions about additional career opportunities.
